The Reading Strategy section contains explicit instruction on a strategy to be practiced in the reading passage which follows.

A thorough explanation is presented, followed by steps to help the student to implement the strategy. A graphic aid is included as an organizing visual element. Students will complete it as or after they read.

Utilizing reading strategies in Milestones is not an abstract function, but integral to understanding the reading and to building good reading skill s. It will be implemented during the reading.

Its mastery will be demonstrated by the student in the section which immediately follows the reading, titled Apply the Reading Strategy .
