In the Listening and Speaking section which follows the Reading, students are given a task which requires academic oral communication.

A variety of tasks can be found here: retelling, explaining, creating a report, dramatizing, and giving an opinion, to name a few.

Functional language support is provided in the Phrases for Conversation box.

Sentence frames give students a boost when needed. They learn to make their oral speech more polished and appropriate for academic settings.
