One of the outstanding strengths of Milestones is the attention given to the practice of reading strategies.

In the previous section, students learned what "Identify the Main Idea and Details" means.

On every page of the reading, they will practice applying this strategy. The benefit is that students learn to make use of reading strategies.

This pattern—reading strategy instruction, followed by the application of the reading strategy on each page of the reading—is one of the key pedagogical features of the Milestones program.
