Part B of each Chapter in the Units 1-7 of Milestones Introductory has an organization similar to that of Milestones A, B, and C California Student Editions.

Students prepare for the reading with several pre-reading activities.

The first step is About the Reading, which builds background about the reading.

The second activity is entitled Use Prior Knowledge.

This section explicitly elicits or provides information which the student may or may not know, but which will be critical for comprehending the reading which follows.
