For the Welcome Unit’s Writing section, students are given step-by-step support to create their own writing product.

In this example for Chapter F, students finish each sentence, describing their personal favorites in music, sports, food, and school subjects. Afterward, they create their own personal Web page as modeled in the Reading section of the California Student Edition.

This scaffolding gives students confidence to put their own thoughts down on paper.
