Some benefits of choral reading are:

  • The teacher set the pace of the reading, to encourage fluency.
  • Struggling readers can find support in working with the group.
  • Correct pacing, intonation, pitch, and pronunciation are modeled by the teacher.

For more information and the Instructional Routine for Reading Comprehension and Reading Fluency, please refer to the Staff Development Handbook in the Milestones Teacher’s Edition.

You will also find a chart of Reading Fluency Strategies in the Milestones Assessment Book Student and Teacher Resource Appendix.
