The Milestones focus on academic vocabulary is seen again in the Reading Comprehension section of the Milestones California Workbook with Assessment Practice.

Here, students are prompted to use their new academic vocabulary in creating authentic, original written responses.

These vary and can include retelling or writing a response to a thematically related question.

Students are also asked to assess their own application and mastery of the reading strategy taught in the Chapter.
