The treatment of vocabulary in Milestones implements Robert Marzano’s six-step process, including a description/example, restatement, and construction of a graphic representation by the student. You will find a description and reference in the “Vocabulary” section in the Staff Development Handbook.
Word Connections is a regular feature in the vocabulary sections of Milestones. These activities use graphic organizers and other techniques to teach word relationships and vocabulary development strategies important in building reading proficiency.
