The activities in Milestones Introductory California Student Edition are numbered sequentially for ease of classroom management.

Students always know where they are supposed to be on the page.

The sub-heading under Listening and Speaking tells you and the student the semantic category of the vocabulary that follows.

Milestones Introductory uses art and photos to support the student's comprehension of key vocabulary. The left-to-right tracking skill is supported here as well.

In addition to the art and photos, a number of graphic aids are used to help students understand what they are to do.

In Activity #2, the dialog bubbles simulate what the students hear on the audio or from the teacher.
