The final section of the Assessment Practice consists of a Writing On Demand task.

The purpose is two-fold. It allows the student to apply what has been learned in the Unit in a concrete and explicit way .

In this example, they are asked to write a descriptive paragraph about a special event or occasion, incorporating sensory details.

Secondly, its "timed" nature mimics the type of writing which is often required in other academic contexts.

Students are given a twenty minute time frame to apply the writing skills they have learned to create their descriptive paragraph.

Your students will become more and more confident and adept with the format and the process of writing "on demand."
