John Hughes

John is a teacher, teacher trainer and a course book author, based near Oxford. His book titles for National Geographic Learning include Practical Grammar Levels 1, 2 and 3, Aspire Intermediate, Success with BEC Vantage, and a six level general English course called 'Life'. In addition, his book 'Spotlight on First' has now been updated for the new 2015 exam specifications. John has also worked as an examiner for student exams (including FCE and BEC), and for teaching qualifications. In the summer he works for Oxford University on teacher methodology courses and he also works as an online tutor. He writes a blog on a range of different topics called www.elteachertrainer.com. John is a regular conference speaker and his sessions are well-known for including lots of practical ideas and classroom activities.

Daniel Raven-Ellison

Daniel Raven-Ellison is a National Geographic Emerging Explorer, guerrilla geographer, radical educator and a parent. Daniel uses creative exploration and innovative interventions to help children to explore, play and learn outdoors. He is a founder of Mission:Explore, a series of children's books and a website of challenges that encourage children to be more curious. He is also an editor for Mission Animal Rescue, a series of National Geographic Kids books that help young people to conserve some of the world's most charismatic and yet endangered species. An explorer, Daniel has walked across some of the world's largest cities, focussing on the shape of urban social landscapes. Most recently he walked the height of Mount Everest by only using buildings. Formerly a secondary geographer teacher, he is now campaigning to turn the whole of London into the world's first National Park City.
