Exploraciones accommodates the diverse learning styles of today’s students by focusing on practical topics and tasks that appeal to a range of ages and life experiences. This focus is evident in the subject matter of the activities and exercises, the style of the illustrations and photos, and the attention paid to careers that require proficiency in Spanish.

A analizar: The A analizar section now includes a video with contextualized conversations to introduce students to new structures within a context now has an integrated online component. Students can view the video outside of class and complete a comprehension activity before being guided through the discovery learning process in order to recognize the patterns of use of a particular structure. Students then come to class prepared for a quick review of the structure and to move onto practice.

Students use a Discovery Learning Approach with an authentic language sample to deduce the rules for each grammar point.

Exploraciones uses a step-by-step discovery learning approach to introduce grammar. Grammar scope and sequence introduces structures with guided review and recycilng throughout each chapter.

Conexiones culturales: These sections with a focus on the 5Cs have been revised to provide pre-and post-activities that stimulate conversation among students.

Exploraciones literarias: A number of new readings have been carefully selected taking into consideration the theme of the chapter and the students’ proficiency level. Revised reading strategies with specific tasks require the students to apply the strategy to the current reading.
