Mathematical Excursions

MATHEMATICAL EXCURSIONS, Fourth Edition, teaches students that mathematics is a system of knowing and understanding our surroundings, and explores a selection of topics from various areas in mathematics. The topics were chosen to exemplify the power and diversity of mathematics and to connect math concepts to contemporary applications. For example, sending information across the Internet is better understood when one understands prime numbers; the perils of radioactive waste take on new meaning when one understands exponential functions; and the efficiency of the flow of traffic through an intersection is more interesting after seeing the system of traffic lights represented in a mathematical form. WebAssign is a flexible and fully customizable online instructional solution that puts powerful tools in your hands, enabling you to deploy assignments, add your own content, instantly assess individual student and class performance, and help your students master course concepts.

Instructors and students benefit from WebAssign content updates without having to transition to a new edition, including new problem types such as Responsive Labs, a new Activities Booklet, and more.

WA IAC K12 MATHEMATICAL EXCURS ION 1YR

Aufmann/Lockwood/Nation/Clegg's "Mathematical Excursions," 5e takes an application-focused approach to quantitative reasoning, helping students see how mathematics informs decisions in everyday life, work and society. Updated examples and Excursion activities keep the course relevant, while new estimation and graphs coverage, a redesigned Statistics chapter and stronger use of technology in finance build practical skills students can use beyond the course. WebAssign turns that applied approach into a guided learning experience with varied exercise types, study resources and an interactive eBook that give students multiple ways to work with the mathematics and reinforce what they are learning.
