The end-of-unit section of the Milestones Texas Student Edition is the Apply & Extend. The Listening and Speaking Workshop, Media Workshop, and Writing Workshop in this section have extensive teacher support in the Milestones Texas Teacher’s Edition. Students are given opportunities to apply everything that they have learned in the Unit, and in previous Units, to demonstrate their skills.

The Apply & Extend Workshops are appropriate for portfolio assessment.

For each workshop, you are given suggestions for reviewing, modeling, explaining, and guiding.

The Projects also reinforce the learning accomplished in the Unit. Here the students can choose a project which showcases their creativity and which suits their own ability, styles, and interests.

Over time, students’ confidence grows. They will be encouraged and motivated to continue challenging themselves to produce original oral language and written language products, not only in your class but also in their other academic courses.
