A Student Model is provided to help students see the goal of the assignment.

Some students will use the model as a guide while others will write more freely.

A process approach is used to guide the students through the writing assignment: Prewriting, Writing the Draft, Revising, Editing and Publishing.

The Writing Checklist gives the student the opportunity to self-evaluate his or her writing. Students use it to strengthen such elements of writing as spelling, mechanics, grammar, audience, and purpose.
