Postpartum Care (DVD)

The final program in this five-part series will deal with post-partum care, including information on breast-feeding, hormonal changes, and physiologic healing of the birth process, whether vaginal or cesarean delivery. Parent teaching is also featured. Clinical assignments to prenatal clinics or labor and delivery units are difficult to arrange and many women are discharged soon after delivery, therefore, caring for these women may not be possible for students. Because this video was filmed with real patients who needed various forms of care and teaching, students can witness the assessments made, interventions given to alleviate discomfort, and nurse-mother interactions in which parenting techniques are discussed. This program has an accompanying Instructor's Guide, which includes objectives, a glossary, previewing and post-viewing tests as well as discussion and clinical application questions to promote critical thinking of students.
