About The Product

Keep the success up! ¡CONTINUEMOS! offers a complete, fully integrated intermediate Spanish program. Designed to consolidate the skills acquired in introductory-level course, the program develops in a spiral approach, fostering the gradual integration of communicative skills and cultural competency. The new features invite students to expand their knowledge online, to engage with real Spanish-speaking people through video interviews, and to exchange with their peers though a set of pairs and group activities devoted to grammar, discussion, and conversation. This flexible and thorough program prepares students for continued success with Spanish.

Features

  • Flexible, Skill-building Program. ¡CONTINUEMOS! allows instructors to link the themes, structures, vocabulary, and grammar review and companion texts of this program together in any combination or independently to prepare students for continued success with the Spanish.
  • Comprehensive, Balanced Coverage. The program combines a comprehensive review and expansion of the basic structures of Spanish with high-frequency vocabulary, intensive practice, and contextualized and personalized opportunities for communication. The balanced coverage contributes to a thorough and solid skill acquisition.
  • Accessible, Contextualized Language. Each lesson opens with a thematic passage introducing new vocabulary and grammar. New items are practiced throughout the lesson supported with clear grammar explanations in English, numerous examples of usage, nuances, and challenges in usage and meaning.
  • Engaging, Thematic Coverage. ¡CONTINUEMOS! contains four new themes--personal relationships, Spanish American cuisines, the Latin presence in entertainment worldwide, work and technology, and five new readings to strengthen the diverse thematic coverage of this edition. This contemporary content, carefully crafted, is very engaging for students.
  • Expanded Listening-Skills Practice. Improved listening material, ranging from slow-paced narrations to faster-paced conversations and songs, exposes learners to increasingly challenging tasks, preparing them for real-life listening situations and interactions.
  • Greater Emphasis on Vocabulary Acquisition. Themed related vocabulary is presented early in each chapter, enabling learners to practice early on about target themes while the contextualized and open-ended activities provide realistic situations and opportunities for the creative use of active vocabulary. This method enhances the secure acquisition of new vocabulary.
  • Careful Recycling Throughout. The recycling of materials supports the recognition, production, and acquisition of vocabulary and grammar. In the cumulative end-of-lesson section called "¡Continuemos!" students are given opportunities of practice to understand cultural facts, use active vocabulary, and recycle grammar including examples and explanations.
  • Program of Learning Strategies. Offers a spiral approach to strategy instruction through the gradual incorporation of reading and writing strategies. This method successfully fosters students' independence as critical thinkers.
  • Strong Cultural Focus. Focusing on a specific geographic country or region, each lesson ranges in coverage from practices, products, and perspectives to cross-cultural comparisons. This encourages discussions that expand students' knowledge of the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
