Animals in Their Habitats explores four distinct habitats—temperate forests, oceans, deserts, and rain forests—and the animals that live within each habitat. While each of the four books focuses on a different habitat, the same key science concepts are developed across each book to help students focus on the big ideas. The theme explores the interdependence of plants and animals within a habitat and develops an understanding of how animals adapt and live within a habitat that meets their needs. Animals rely on both physical and behavioral adaptations to help them survive. Students use the specific content and vocabulary within each book to discuss and examine these big ideas, or Key Concepts. The Theme Set Program is designed for differentiated instruction. Each Theme includes four books written at four different reading levels.
