About The Product

Through its proven approach to language learning, the second edition of EL MUNDO 21 HISPANO provides your students with a wealth of both contextualized and purposeful content. Throughout the text, students are given multiple opportunities to learn about their own country of origin, or that of their ancestors, so that they begin to respect and take pride in their own cultural heritage, as well as those of their classmates. The completely revised and redesigned second edition offers a seamless passage through Intermediate Spanish for the heritage speaker, along with integrated grammar, vocabulary, media (audio and video), and culture as well as ample opportunities to interact and discuss each lesson's theme. EL MUNDO 21 HISPANO’s text-specific cultural video along with six new authentic short films and its rich array of online resources will keep your students both motivated and engaged throughout the course.

  • Content-Based Approach. The text's content-based approach provides heritage speakers with a wealth of opportunities to interact with each other as they discuss the many cultural and literary readings in each unit.
  • Content Equals Culture. As students discover the 21 countries that comprise the Spanish-speaking world, they gain insight into Hispanic cultures and civilizations along with their heritage, and they also achieve a global understanding of the issues and challenges faced by the Spanish-speaking world today.
  • Skill Development. Students acquire listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through accompanying video and audio, role plays, opportunities for discussion and debate, pre- and post-reading activities, and a process approach to writing. Special attention is paid to the challenges heritage speakers face in developing these skills.
